Hot Diggity Sig.

Hot Diggity Sig. For those interested in Photo editing, Tuesday evening, November 8 was an informative and entertaining get together with a Photoshop teacher who keeps up on the latest and mind blowing attributes of Adobe’s star Software program.

Eric Saar, Graphic Designer at Security Mutual Life, graphic software Teacher at BOCES , and entrepreneur, once again delighted those who know a little and those who know a lot about the photo editing package. Photoshop CS 2 is the newest version and Eric has had it only a few months but not an eye strayed from his presentation as we watched the features of CS2.

The first Creative Suite was designed for integrating Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, GoLive and Acrobat . It allows designer to work on a project utilizing any of the listed applications without having to go back and forth into the individual application. i.e. One can make changes on a Photoshop image after it is placed in an InDesign page without taking it back to Photo- shop. This creative intermingling saves a great deal of time and frustration. Creative Suite 2 saves even more valuable work or precious fun time by improving upon application integration.

Eric presented a number of enhanced and added features new in this second Suite. Here are a couple that impressed this novice. File browser has been renamed Bridge and makes it a lot easier to find the files you want to use. It even gives visual previews of your files in thumbnails so you can see what picture, logo or graphic you want to use. And this works across the bridge between Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign etc.

Next item that widened the eyes was one in Photoshop called Vanishing Point. Quickly, you can clone, brush and paste elements that match the perspective of the image area. Yes, it automatically does this. And for the camera crazies, Red eye removal, is now one click away. (Two if your subject has two eyes). No more painting or making three or four maneuvers, Just a click. There were so many interesting features in Creative Suite 2 that none wanted to leave when it was over.

Eric, as usual, invited questions at anytime, repeated the explanation or demo when requested and made sure all were comfortable in asking questions whether very basic or confusingly sophisticated. We are indeed fortunate to have so talented a designer in our area willing to share his enthusiasm and knowledge of the software he uses in his work and play.

His next presentation is December 6th at 6:30 at the generously offered meeting room at Security Mutual Life in Binghamton. The subject, Adobe Illustrator CS2. Hot Diggity Sig.
