Review: Swift Publisher

Review: Swift Publisher is on the money
by ron carlson, Insanely Great Mac
January 10th 2006

Recently, BeLight Software updated their flagship application, Swift
Publisher, and having tasted the demo I asked for a license to get
the full flavor of this powerful and intuitive application.

As you might expect, there's a clip-art collection that's ample of
out the box. Further, it's not difficult to add stuff to the library
or search the web for images inside the app, which kind of neat.

Experienced Mac users will see familiar features, like the ubiquitous
Inspector palette, as well as seamless iPhoto integration. The
layout's also simple and clear, and this user never got lost or felt
out of place.

There are non-standard behaviors, such as stretching an object with
the shift* key pressed, but these aren't show stoppers. And,
honestly, the average user isn't likely to even notice the
inconsistency.

Swift Publisher is similar to Apple's Pages ($79)and MacKiev's
Print Shop Pro 2 ($60), but it's a good deal less expensive than
either of these competitors at just $35.

Conclusion

If ease-of-use and low-cost top your wish lists, then Swift Publisher
is definitely worth a look. Check out the demo and report your
experierences below...

* Stretching with the shift key pressed in most Mac apps forces
objects to scale proportionately—the opposite of Swift.
