Microsoft releases Office 2004 security update

Wednesday, April 15 2009 @ 09:08 AM PDT

After a potentially damaging vulnerability surfaced in Microsoft's Office suite of programs (specifically, PowerPoint) earlier this month, the Seattle-based software giant has released a security update to close those issues.

Our story, published earlier this month, outlined the issues surrounding a possible vulnerability in PowerPoint where a malicious file could surrender user access privileges to potentially malicious outsiders.

From Microsoft's downloads page:

"This update contains improvements to enhance security and performance. In addition, this update includes fixes for vulnerabilities that an attacker can use to overwrite the contents of your computer's memory with malicious code."
