Google offers new Dashboard widgets

By Peter Cohen (Macworld)

If you’re a fan of Google’s Blogger, Gmail or search history services, you might be interested in three new widgets the company released this week for Mac OS X v10.4 “Tiger’s” Dashboard feature.

Normally such functionality is dependent on a Web browser, but these widgets free you from that limitation. The Blogger widget enables you to do blog posting without having to fire up your Web browser.

The Gmail widget checks the content of your Gmail account inbox — if there are any messages you want to read, it’ll redirect to your Web browser. You can also open multiple copies of the widget if you want to check more than one Gmail account.

The Search History widget will show you your most recent searches on Google (presume you’ve logged in to Google), and it also shows you the links you’ve clicked on as a result of those searches, so you can find the exact Web page you’ve already visited.
