Answers to your sticky questions about your computer

Converting records and tapes to digital format: Part 2
Join us for another look at converting your audio records and tapes to a digital format. A year ago (March 2005) Chris Buffington discussed the audio programs Sound Studio, Amadeus and Audacity to capture and convert your analog records and tapes to digital file format. We also looked at the manual removal of clicks, pops and hiss from the converted recordings. This time in Part 2, we will investigate the use of the program Sound Soap 2. Sound Soap will automatically clean and scrub your audio files of those clicks, pops, crackles and hiss, rendering a much cleaner sounding recording. If you have already started your own conversions of records to tape, be sure to bring any questions to the meeting.

Computer Backup
Per request at the February meeting, we will start a two part series on backing up your computer. Topics to be discussed include reasons for backing up, deciding on a backup strategy, and choosing backup software and backup media.

Raffle for a Memorex 2GB jump drive, a Belkin 7-port USB hub, and Click Art Photo.

Soft drinks and cookie and lots of fun.
