Apple's Service

Steve Jobs,

Last year in May I bought a new PowerBook G4 and while in South Carolina
for the winter my DVD drive failed...........

There wasn't any repair place near where I spend the winter so I came
back to Binghamton a month early so that I could take my computer to one
of the local authorized repair centers.

They sent the Laptop in to Apple for repair......... I had backed up all
my data files, but not the programs............

They at Apple replaced the DVD drive along with the Hard drive......

It wouldn't have taken very much effort at all to move my programs to
the new hard drive, but they chose not to..... A large amount of the
programs I had would only work in Tiger because they had been transfered
from my old computer and will not load on the new drive unless I buy the
upgrade version of the same program......
I no longer have the old computer.......

I also lost all my programs that are down loadable only.........

They also chose to place Tiger 10.4.0 on the hard drive instead of
10.4.6 that I had on the drive......... Meaning I now have a 140 MB
download that has to be done with my dial-up connection that does not
allow me enough time for such a large download........

It's going to be a long time before I have my computer back in shape to
do all the web site work that I love to do..........

Apple has done me a great disservice that could have been a nice
experience..........

That by the way will be the last Mac Computer that I buy thanks to your
service/disservice............ The other factor in not buying another
Mac is the lack of a Modem in the new laptop..... Almost all of my work
is completed via a Laptop and Modem........... In case you've lost track
websites still have to be built for the dial-up user...
